I fell in love with this house during the Home Tour last fall. It is the Sicily Italian House by inVerse, with a few of my own touches. Although it came with furniture, I removed most of it and added my favorites and things I have collected. Landscaping is mostly inVerse woods patch and pond.
This landing area disguises the rental mushroom. I wish it would go transparent when I pay it. My Chakra Meditation Fountain was re-purposed as a magic fortune-telling fountain.
This small pool and dock was set just off of the main entrance. (Shadows Bright Day Sky Setting)
One of the first changes I made was to install a stained glass panel for privacy in the floor to ceiling window that looks out to my neighbor’s yard. What Second Life feature do I most wish was available in the real world? True one-way walls and windows!
The entrance piazza was a big space to fill so this nook became a potting area for my plants. A stairway to my right leads to the grass-covered roof.
A big part of the charm of this house is the grass-covered roof. I could not resist setting out a Paradise Blanket by Octoberwerks for a spectacular view of ElvenMoor by sunrise. My mini-balloon ship was a gift from the Isle of Dee Easter Hunt Maze.
A lovely setting for watching the sunset over the ocean. Re-textured patio set from the Seaside Garden collection by {what next}
I changed many of the colors of the furnishings provided with the house to suit my mood. Burnt orange and brown shades and lighter furniture are better suited to the building.
In the living room I replaced the fireplace with LISP’s White Fireplace. The 7 Picture Wood Frame grouping by Robin Sojourner is filled with family photos. Hanging in the window are Blown Glass Witch Balls (an Isle of Dee Easter Maze Hunt gift) by Wishbringer and inVerse curtains (came with the house). I re-textured and resized the Beach Cottage Daybed by What Next and the Toronto-Study armchair by Bazar. On the Amaris End Table by Digs is the adorable embroidery set by Tala Laval, A Lady’s Favor. The large Rose Louis Chair was a group gift from Trompe Loeil. The little stool is the Daliah Goat stool by Aria. The rug is from the Cozy Cottage collection by Just Rose.
This desk set I created is still one of my favorite pieces. The chair back and set are from Teresa Wentzler’s Legends of the Dragons, which I stitched years past for my daughter. Hobbiton Rug and portrait by Just Rose, {vespertine} House Terrarium, remaining furnishings by inVerse.
The dining nook originally looked out on the entry’s blank wall. I added this great mural for texture and it looks wonderful. I built the tree shelf to display some of my Gotcha figurines. The dining set is from the Coastal Cottage collection by What Next.
Tea with Ebbe for Strawberry Singh’s Flat Ebbe Linden Meme.
I just have to share some of the things on my tabletop. My wonderful Salamander Teapot by my dear friend Cardhu McArdle was one of my first and favorite purchases in Second Life. The yummy Easter cake was a group gift from What Next. And your should look closely at the morning newspaper.
Aside from rearranging and texturing a few things, I never really did the upstairs area. The textures are from my Garden Blues collection.
Well, as they say “Sumer is icumen in, Lhude sing, cuccu!” So it’s just about time to tear ‘er down and build up a new summer home. If you want to visit, better hurry.
*Over the next few weeks and months, I will be going through my inventory looking at old builds, houses, and landscaping I’ve created and collected since ’06. I hope to share those memories here and on my Flickr pages. My main homeplace is located in the North West corner of ElvenMoor. Because I change the look so often, I sank the land and use sculpted/mesh/prim land as a base.
